I learned that college can be very demanding at times, but is actually a lot of fun. Students are given a new sense of freedom and are allowed to be independent. Also, they are not given as much homework/written work, but more reading assignments and they are assigned more papers to write. The homework takes them about as much time as it did me last year, but this year I hardly have any homework, so I will need to get back into the habit of doing homework. Overall I believe that college will be a good e xperience for me.
ReplyDeleteI believe that I will not have any problems staying safe on the campus at Lincoln Land Community College. It is a small campus and there are no that many people there, so the risk does drop somewhat. Also, I believe that if I were attacked I would be able to defend myself. Finally, I see myself as confident and most criminals do not want to attack a confident person.
The professors at college seem like they are not as helpful as teachers in high school. Also, to their defense they have more students to teach than teachers at the high school level. Teachers at the high school are more willing to help students than professors. Also, college professors tend to lecture more than teach in fun ways, such as high school teachers.
First, homework is different in college. Professors give homework, but it is strictly up to you to do it. There are no lates and if you don't turn it in, then the professors won't track you down to get it done. Homework is also less common, so quizzes and tests make up most of the grades. Projects in college are also more in depth and most likely, less time is given to complete them.
ReplyDeleteSecond, the environment is different as well. The range of people is larger and the campus is also larger. Depending on where you go, the individual classes may be larger than a graduating class. It's friendlier as well. Cliques don't exist and class discussion isn't the teacher calling on someone. It's people building off of what the professor and/or other students.
Finally, professors are more strict. They hold you to higher standards than high school teachers. If you ask them one on one, they will help you, but if they think that you are not doing well, they aren't going to pull you aside. Teachers in high school also encourage you while professors usually don't care.
